Refinished End Table and Mosaic

It started with a yard sale. I saw the table, ugly as it could be - horrible finish, chipped wood and a veneer top. I loved the design though, the first word that popped into my head was "wakitesian", a Holden family word used to describe paraphernalia from the 60's and 70's, coined by my Auntie Shea.

I snagged it for $8.

Step #1: Strip and sand. A step more arduous than I had expected.

Step #2: Refinish. Color choice: 2 coats of Bombay Mahogany.

Step #3: Rid of that hideous veneer top. Mosaic anyone?

Step #4: Grout, seal and finish. Funky ad-lib design, but I love it!

Work time: about 15 hours.

Costs:
Table: $8
Sand paper: $2
Wood stain: $4
Tile adhesive: $4
Tiles: $7
Grout: $6
Total: $31
